Students understand the structural factors influencing the supply of labor on international labor markets. They are aware of the specific characteristics of labor as distinct from goods on the commodity market. They recognize the differences between an employment contract and a sales contract. Students are conscious of the differing strategic options available to employees and employers, shaped by the structural power imbalance between employers and employees in capitalist societies. They understand the significance of collective action for the representation of employees' interests.
Students acquire competencies for analyzing labor markets. They learn various approaches to labor market policy. They gain knowledge of the possibilities and limitations of legislative interventions in labor markets and are able to assess them critically. Using their understanding of the limits of labor markets, students can identify structurally disadvantaged groups and develop targeted concepts for promoting such groups.
Students learn about the significance of trade union partners as potential cooperation partners in social work.
They learn how to represent structurally disadvantaged groups in employment placement.
Students learn to critically reflect on the possibilities and limitations of social and labor market policies.
